| The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation is a privately funded non-profit organisation with the aim of promoting research worldwide to develop scientific and clinical progress towards a putative care for Spinal Cord Injury (SRI) paralysis.
On a yearly basis, Wings for Life receives numerous scientific proposals from international groups requesting project funding. The Foundation assesses the proposals and determines the most promising projects, based on the criteria of originality, quality and feasibility.
Wings for Life is also passionate about exploring possibilities to assist in the prevention of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) paralysis. Known as the ‘helmet for the cervical spine’, the Leatt Brace was developed in a joint collaboration. The brace allows for full mobility but prevents hyperextension and hyperflexion of the cervical spine, which can lead to spinal injury.
Through such developments Wings for Life works to assist in prevention as well as the development of a cure.
